Part 1/3
After looking at it for over a year I decided to buy a Virtual Reality headset, the Oculus Rift.
Last year, 2017, was the year that 360 video became mainstream. Arguably it’s still not there quality wise. As your canvas is way bigger you will need at least 4K, preferably 6-8K to get the same quality as your HD TV at home. But it’s getting there. That’s why I believe 2018 will become the year that Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality will become mainstream and more and more content will be available for these products. Yeah, sure, there are already tons of videogames, but that is not my use-case.
I want to use the Oculus Rift to be emerged in Facebook 360 or YouTube 360 video content. Exploring National Parks, big cities around the world or simply being in places where you normally can’t be like behind the scenes at a studio or maybe even on another planet. Maybe have a zoom conversation in VR. That would be awesome!
With my Oculus Rift, I received 2 touch controllers that feel like the Sony Playstation controller, which in my humble opinion is the best game controller out there. It also comes with two motion sensors. This video only contains the unboxing. The installation of the unit will be a new video.
